The BMX freestyle discipline traditionally attracts the widest international participation and receives the loudest cheers from the crowd, especially when riders perform breathtaking, high-amplitude tricks on the largest structures of the Ventspils skatepark.

BMX freestyle has also become an official part of the Olympic Games.

Latvia’s top BMX freestyle rider is Ernests Zēbolts, who in the 2024 Olympic Games achieved an impressive eighth place in the BMX freestyle discipline final- he is a native of Ventspils and a regular participant at GGFEST.
